About Us

Welcome to Hadensville Volunteer Fire-Rescue Company 6!

Our History:

The Goochland County Fire-Rescue Department began in 1952 as the Dover-Pembroke Fire Department, as the result of several concerned citizens reacting to a lack of fire protection in their community. Company 6 was formed ten years later in 1962, by a group of concerned members of our community, primarily headed by Linwood Trice. In 1962, another of those concerned citizens, Marvin J. Duke, donated the land where the station is currently located. Members of the community donated funds and worked together to construct the station in 1963.

The first fire engine was a second-hand 1947 International tanker truck purchased from a department in New Jersey in 1963.

The addition of a Volunteer Rescue Squad occurred in December of 1969, when the Hadensville-Fife Volunteer Rescue Squad was formed. This group eventually divided in July 1979, to better serve the two communities.

Since our inception, our group of dedicated volunteers have been striving to serve our community to the greatest capacity possible. The days of second-hand vehicles and equipment are far gone, as we are fortunate to have state of the art equipment to serve your emergency needs. Our group of volunteers are also highly trained firefighters and emergency medical providers, many of whom provide the same services as a career in neighboring localities and private ambulance services.

Our Mission Satement:

To provide customer driven, high quality fire suppression, rescue, and emergency medical services to meet the needs of the residents, businesses, and visitors of our community and the surrounding areas.

Our Values"FIRED-UP"

Focus on the community: In everything we do, we will recognize that we are part of the community, and exist to serve that community.

Integrity: We do the right thing, the right way, even when no one is watching.

Respect: Treating each other and our customers with respect based on mutual trust and open communication.

Excellence: Striving for perfection by establishing high standards of performance and leadership in everything we do.

Dedication: We are dedicated to the organization, each other, our families, and our community.

Unity: Meeting our responsibilities to our customers and each other through effective communication, positive attitude, shared workloads, and collective commitments to common goals.

Pride: We will demonstrate pride in our history, our members, our equipment, and our ability to perform when called upon to do so.
